one way breather valve
Just to check, it the one way breather valve before the swirl pot etc meant to face towards the engine (arrow in image below):

The image shows how mine is currently set up (mine is connected with the arrow pointing towards the engine)....Just wondering is this correct as i know it has been disconnected many times and just want to make sure its never been replaced the wrong way round.
Thanks
Sam

Re: one way breather valve
is the engine a turbo? if so then i think the arrow should point away from the rocker cover, as that means any gas leaked to the crankcase can escape

Re: one way breather valve
It is not connected on the rocker cover,it goes from the oil trap to the inlet manifold.The arrow must point towards the inlet manifold,although mine hasn't any arrow stamped on it,if you watch the shape of the valve it ressembles an arrow by it self
It allows vapours to me drawn to the inlet manifold under vacuum,but under boost it shuts down to stop pressurizing the rocker cover.When the inlet manifold is under boost,the fumes from the oil trap are being drawn by the vacuum in the airbox.On non turbo applications,this valve is not used.

Re: one way breather valve
Surely as shown in top pic of yours it works the other way round? Imagine a small disc inside that conical shape moving from right to left would let air pass then when goes other way it would seal ? if you get what i mean ???

Re: one way breather valve
ok heres a clearer pic of what iv got (freshly taken
)

- It is a turbo engine yes, and it isnt connected to the rocker cover. It is connected between the pot and the manifold with the arrow pointing towards the manifold as you say georgiocat...so the setup in the pic how it is is correct yeh??
thanks

Re: one way breather valve
Don't know for sure for the bailey set up tbh,as far as I know on factory setup it is needed,if you pressurize the rocker cover chances are that the oil filler cap will pop off or perhaps you do damage to oil seals,because the rocker cover is connected to the crankase,so you presurize the crankase too.Not a very good idea.I don't know the exact routing of the hoses on the bailey separator,since I never used one,so perhaps you don't need an one way valve
