my girlfriend has a 07 plate cooper diesel she got it when it was six months old it had one owner in march 08 i noticed the lower part of the steering columb by the pedals was rusting quite a bit so she took it in and the said it was a faulty piston on the top of the clutch pedal leaking hydrolic fluid so they replaced the piston and the steerng columb fast foward to now and its started to rust up again so we took it back and they painted it up and tryed saying its just normal oxidization (really? on the inside of a 3 year old car twice?) an are trying to close the matter. every car we look at doesnt have this problem and everyone iv asked be it mechanics or sales man have never seen this, my 19 year old frst doesnt even have corrosion there for fooks sake
so my question is am i right in thinking this isnt acceptable or are they right and its normal???
any input would be apprecitaed thanks lads

They set a precedent by replacing the first time, if it's a recurring fault that isn't seen on other vehicles then they obviously didn't find the cause of the issue in the first instance. Any issues with damp in the car, excessive condensate etc ?
Nothing to see here...
