Making a spit
I've decided to mount my car on a spit to work on the sills and underneath. And being a fabricator/welder by trade i feel its something i can knock up myself.
Does anyone have one they've bought or made and able to give me a few measurements to help me out? Floor to center of rotating tube being the main important measurement i need - ideally like to have the car on its side. What sort of length and span am i looking at for the feet to be sturdy and safe?
Any photos you have would be apprieciated too
Thanks in advance

Re: Making a spit
you can meassure the car to get the sizes you need.
work out how far apart you want the feet of the spit end, then messure the center of the car to the outside of the car, add some for clearance and there you have the hight needed.
if you want the spit to rotate the full 360, then you have to take into account the roof and adjust the hight as needed.
dont forget to make it so its stable

Re: Making a spit
I was wondering about doing this for my car on it's redneck rebuild (tight budget). Would somebody be able to do a drawing or something of a jig/spit that would allow me to turn my car 90 degrees either way?

I could look at it once i've made mine and tested it. Postage wouldn't be cheap though
