Thanks, I requested RS1800 ratios before (you provided them along with a calculated top speed with the Diesel 'box), but not specific Diesel Ratios.

Thought we had covered something with the gearboxes before
Are you still deciding what box to run on the 2.0 ?

Re: Info Request: Diesel Gearbox Ratios
Thinking about this some more, the Diesel 5th in the RS1800 box would be better

That might be a easier solution
I like the diesel box for the economy aspect, 70mph at 3k instead of the RS1800 which does 70mph at 3.5k but would this make much difference in real life terms
The diesel seems to have a short first but I think the rest of the ratios could be lived with. Losing 9 mph low down should be offset by gaining 35mph with 3rd, 4th and 5th although I dont know what actual top speed you would hit with a 2.0 and the diesel box, theoretically it could go to 158mph but in practicallity you wouldnt see that with a standard engine
What box do you have fitted at the moment ?
I believe there were a couple of people over on the FSi forum that ran their 2.0's with a Diesel box

Re: Info Request: Diesel Gearbox Ratios
I think I will take this route, I can swap 5th gear in 15 minutes.
My old box was that standard 1.6 Si gearbox. I don't understand Ford's choice, the car just wasn't fast but it would pull 4k at 80 on the motorway meaning low 30's to the gallon. I also don't understand why Ford marketed that car as 'Sports', I got burnt off by a middle aged woman in a Honda Jazz
It was painfully slow.
The 1.6 should have been kept in the Ghia, the Si 1.8 105, XR2i 1.8 130 and the RS1800 should have been an RS2000.

Re: Info Request: Diesel Gearbox Ratios
This graph looks much better.
RS1800 seems to have a stunted 5th to keep the 130 motor 'on cam', but I always thought the 130 1.8 was lacking in torque. I don't envisage the 2.0 will have any problem pulling an extra 770RPM cleanly going into 5th.

Does look to be the best option
Luckily you have the ability to make such changes to the gearbox, I however do not !!

Re: Info Request: Diesel Gearbox Ratios
This could be what I need really. I have an XR2i 16v gearbox in mine at the moment, and the 5th is pathetic. To be fair, none of the gears are much good other than 1st and 2nd
My old Orion 1.8 16v box seemed far better. I don't know how the ratios of that compare to any of the Fiesta ones though. I'm sure the 5th was better
