Hello
I'm guessing this is the wrong part of the place for an intro, apologies.
I'm Steve, 21, over near Leeds and just picked myself up a (i think) a mk4 Fiesta fairly cheap altho I've got a problem with it already;
It failed MOT on 3 corroded brake lines, but no probs booked it in for repairs and then rather inconveniently lost my keys
. Have no 'red' one and went trawling the local scrap yard for replacements only to discover I needed a key, lock set/ignition and ECU. Now I don't know which type of fiesta im pulling bit's out of since there appears to be 1 or 3 different versions.
Pic's attached and hope to get it fixed and stick around, seen some nicely done one's here just browsing already.

Re: Hello
Ahh, winner
Altho I rang Ford today and was quoted £250 for a new set just like that fitted; but A) I'd have to get the car 3 miles to their forcourt - and B) there's no guarantee that a new ECU will work in the car? Guy told me they had a Fiesta in 2 weeks back where they programme a pukka new ECU up, then it wasn't needed so they shelved it but when trying to programme it to a 2nd car it wasn't playing ball so was binned. Not sounding good really, I'm gonna put up a couple flyers locally see if anyone wants a few beer tokens for their safe return but if not il be risking the Ebay option. Cheers

Re: Hello
welcome to the site mate
sorry to hear about losing the keys, thats a bummer mate
shouldnt need a new ECU, they just re-programe what ya have, but its not cheap.
you got key cover on your insurance? if you have they will sort it
other than that, get a mk4 with the red key and have the locks and ecu from it and change it all over ya self
just dont get any with black or red tabs on the keys as they differe to the ones with the red tabs

Re: Hello
cheers fella's.
I've got a new set froma local guy who stripped his on Thursday, I got a new ECU, fuel cap (didn't have one), igntion coil bit(black thing), ignition lock bit thing and key for £30.
I'm currently in the process of ripping the old ignition bit out but that little pin in the top of it aint makin it easy.
Here's a pic of it currently after my uncle 'had a play'....

Update: while finding pics on Facebook of the igntion as it stands, my best mates (who sold me the car) GF tells me he's found the masterkey... truly gutted.

Re: Hello
Quick update - got masterkey now so old barrel has been replaced with new.
New key and masterkey are on same keyring allowing the coil/ECU to go off the old M'key and the new barrel be worked by it's key.
Task now, is to get the new key recoded to the masterkey and a spare one cut for the locks
