The 2nd picture isn't a sensor, it's a switch which opens to let the EGR circle back to the inlet I believe.

egr? what if you are running a different inlet etc, would they be rendered useless and need to be removed if so would the ecu or wiring accept that?

EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation. pipes come off the exhaust manifold, up the tubes and back into the inlet. The switch blocks/allows them through controlled by the ECU. Will still work fine even if you remove the EGR system, ECU may flag it up as an error code but nothing else.

Yup, I've done the same. Switch is still there, even plugged in, just no pipes on it.

Also, the first one is the evaporative canister,or carbon canister. It stores the fumes from the fuel tank and when in full throttle,it opens and let the fumes drawn from the canister to the inlet manifold and be burned. You can take it off,but there is a chance you will smell gasoline when parked, not so good for your health, and not so safe as well under some circumstances.
