Can anyone help with Escort

Postby grandman on Tue Mar 09, 2010 6:21 pm

Hi have a 1996 Ford escort 1.6 16V on a N plate, It's the ZETEC Unit the one with the black plastic air intake. Prblem is definitely temperature related. If i turn heater off completely I will only travel about three quarters of a mile, with heater on full I can more than double that distance. This is because I'm pulling heat of the engine. So,Can you all please help here, what can cause the car when it reaches operating temperature, (as in temp gauge needle aligns centre) to just cut out? you can override this by accelerating hard, or revving engine hard, but as soon as you take foot of accelerator engine dies.

We have replaced engine and have only just been told two sensors were a different colour, waiting for my friend to come in tomorrow to find out more about this, didn't know about it before.

All sensors and HT leads plugs, plus coil new. I was thinking about fuel pump or pump relay, but how would revving engine overcome that if it were correct?

Kind Regards

Dave) Thank Goodness for 911's

Hey Guys someone could have replied here (I think). Still we may have found problem, we have been running car with heater full on, and think we may have had an airlock in heater after engine change. Never realised that an airlock could cause so many problems , and wonder if there is any other damage this may have done, IE should I check anything else before allowing little car to be run daily...

Kind Regards Dave)
