just a quick question, my '96 mk4 1.3 is nearly on its way out and was just wondering if a 1.25 zetec engine would fit straight in?

I thought about doing this to my old 1.3 when the engine died. Got put off when i was told the whole car loom needs changing if it means converting from analogue dash to digital. Picked up another 1.3 engine for £90 off eBay in the end

not all 1.25 engines used the digital car loom mate, plenty of earlier mk4 fiestas ahve analaug looms

yup i agree its not particually worth it

it would be easier to buy a 1.25 engined mk4 in replace, any part your fond of in your current car, id swap over to the 1.25

but tbh i find it hard to believe the 1.3 hcs is dieing on you, theyre remarkably strong and last 100's of thousands of miles even when you dont maintain them well

the Zetec Se engine will die 3 times over before the HCS, but such a big conversion for just 15bhp

im quite happy putting anoter hcs 1.3 in there lol, just that they sound so diesely lol, not good for when u got an exhuast on lol

well tighten the tappets, they can be quite if you want them to be

140 thou for these engines is nothing lol, ive heard of them strong past 200k

The replacement 1.3 i fitted was so quiet it was hard to tell if the engine was running So they're not all loud
