XR2I v vermin

Hi after a three year lay up I found a rat/mouse had made its bed in the engine bay, nearside wing near bulk head. What ever it was it's eaten through two wires which came out of a connector which is bolted (10mm) to the inner wing. Small black plastic connector one of the wires looks to have been green? Found some half chewed remnants. Any ideas what the connector is for please? I'm thinking rev counter possibly since that's the only thing not working on the car. Any ideas greatfully received.
