MOOG seem a decent quality, I've fitted some MOOG tracked ends to my st170 and as I say they look to be good quality, don't look cheap and nasty like first line for example

Quality from the pics look ok.
They are not FRST ones though, the ball joint is short and it's not angled back, that is a standard bottom arm for non power steering models

Looking at the picture, the ball joint should be angled back.
Problem with otter parts is the company list the my I fit all models, and in fairness they will, not to say it's the right part they left the factory with, but they will fit and will work.
Would just advise getting tracking re done after fitting them

Re: Wisbone info for the mk3 & 3.5 fiesta range
yes I plan to get the tracking redone after I fit them.
odd thing is the QH ones I had on the car lasted 2 years, and the Unipart ones I had n the car lasted 2 years also.
they Unipart ones passed mot easy but steering is loosing precision now and the dodgey tyre wear too.
I will take a side pic of the wishbone in a few minutes for ya.

My bad, they are angled back a bit, so are standard power steering arms

Not sure but how can we determine the quality of the wishbones from a visual inspection? What do we look for?

Re: Wisbone info for the mk3 & 3.5 fiesta range
I generally look at over all quality of how it's been made.
Not always so appearant, depending on the part it self, all I can say is, when you have seen cheap nasty parts, then your know if what you have is as cheap and nasty.
For a bottom arm, I would look at the fitment of the bushes, the quality of the ball joint, and over all appearance of it, cheap nasty ones tend to be rough looking stamps, meaning rough edges, paint quality is normally poor, or it looks like they have givens its 20 coats of shinny black, and over all it just looks a rushed cheap part.
It's worth bearing in mind though, than some cheaper good quality parts are prob made by the same company that supply fords, it wouldn't surprise me if QH used to make parts for ford, and now they gone, maybe MOOG do now??
Best you can do is try and judge them your self mate, I've had a brand new ford arm fail after a week, and also a uni part one last over 2 years...

Re: Wisbone info for the mk3 & 3.5 fiesta range
they didnt look that bad but im guessing the wear could have been accelerated by the sticking caliper and then the collapsed hose i had causing forces to be applied in one direction when braking stressing the bushes and joints in an uneven manner. the side which had the caliper and hose issue was the one with the more inner tyre wear. so now i got brand new calipers for the fronts and new hoses front and back everything should be going good and hopefully last longer too

Re: Wisbone info for the mk3 & 3.5 fiesta range
Ocap is cheap, moog - used to be federal mongrel or something, TRW are oe, as is Lemforder - lemforder own trw. identical parts to bmw etc, they actually have people on the production line with a small grinder taking off the merc/bmw/ford stamps , oh and don't buy Lucas...euro brought the name-production is in india or far east and they are crap. Most of the brands you used to recognize years ago have been sold off now and only the brand name has been taken-most of it is cheap s**t from india. Crosland for one-absolute crap and you will find its still the cheap "gutman" brand euro used to sell which was produced in india. Euro brought the brand name.

bushes are shagged again. will need to get new wishbones on. looks like the moogs lasted 3 years. so thats good going and a record for me.
this time will probably try TRW and see how they go.
