Fair call I thought it was part of the membership. :(
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Ad block filters when out for me, it would be nice to get rid of the empty boxes as well though.

IIRC it should be a matter of putting an if statement based on group membership, in the php file, around the section of code that displays the ad.

I think that's the new quote symbol. It just looks odd in your quote because there's no name after it.

It's not quite as simple as that. Well to do it properly isn't!

I'm trying to find a neater solution, as any changes I make to the code have to be replicated when the board software is updated so these need to be as minimal as possible.

What's improper about using the IF statement?

Although I appreciate you'd have to put it back everytime the code is updated.

Nothing, but IF what?

The userdata object doesn't contain group data, so you need some way of testing what groups the user is a member of.

There must be an "is member of" type variable of some form? Otherwise you wouldn't be able to set section visibility and posting rights based on group membership? Or can you not do that with phpBB? I've used so many of these things they all kind of merge into one blurred memory of what they can all do.

bttt - I thought it was one of the perks of being a member... not having to deal with the advert below the 1st post, as Excursion quoted:

[dailymail] Yes, they do matter. It's an absolute outrage and a disgrace. [/dailymail]

Well it was one of the main reasons why I paid, so yes.

Although I don't see them anyway because Adblock Plus takes them out.

Yes, we've already established that they can be removed with that.

That isn't really the point though.

To be honest, I paid for club.ft to help with the upkeep of the site, the move to the faster server, etc. With adblock, which takes less than 2 minutes to install, I see no ads not only here but on any website, so I'm not too bothered when the ads I can't see, go.
