What Engine shall I Use???
Hey guys, i have a mk 3.5 fiesta 1.1 xr2i rep . instead of selling it and just buying something faster i want to do an engine conversion .
im interested in the st170 engine or the st150 engine but money is a factor so more thinking a 1800 or 2.0l silver top zetec. what would be the easiest conversion? I'm not a mechanic but i can do some work myself. also i didnt know if because its a mk3.5 if the 1.7 puma was an option with a simple plug and play system. i dont mind something like a 1.6 i just want something better than my 1.1 as i went from a fiesta st to a 1.1 lx its a bit like swapping ur 42" flat screen for a 13' black and white box! altho i do love the looks of a mk 3 fiesta rs/xr than the new ones! any advice or ideas wold be much appreciated,
i would of bought a rs1800 or xr2i but as i had a crash last year my insurance has skyrocketed, this is why im converting a 1.1.

if youve got a 1.1 a 1.3 is a straight swap dont have to change a thing , but im huessing you want more power , i think with the zetecs you have to modify the mounts and a few other bits , im pretty sure the 1.7 puma engine is harder to install and deffinately isnt plug and play like with the mk4's and 5's , also with the zetecs youll need a new ecu and chenge the engine bay part of the wiring loom , a cvh is probarbly easyest aslong as you put a carbed one in hardly any wiring probarbly wouldnt have to change the gearbox , you would also need the cvh engine mount rad and pipework . tbh id go for a 1.6 cvh xr2 engine verry simple someone else will probarbly correct me on all this

the puma engine has that doesnt have much more power than a 1.6 efi. go with the st engine, they are really good engines. but since your used to a driving a 1.1 a 1.6 efi will be like a rocket compared to that. plus it will bolt straight in.
