The Recaro Fiesta - the rebuild begins

Postby knuckles on Sat Nov 18, 2006 11:24 pm

Hello all,

Work began today on the Recaro fiesta which i have brought from adrian. I have now got a Rs turbo engine ready to fit and a mint T2...

Today i basically refitted the black pannels at the back and clipped all the looms back into place, generally worked out where everything was... etc.

Also removed the old front brake calipers as these are being replaced with 4x4 cosworths when mondy alloys are fitted.

It Started to get dark before i could clean the engine bay - will try to get that done tomorrow.

The car still needs certain water hoses and boost hoses. Also need to fit new brakes all round.

Apart from that im glad with the progress so far and cant wait to drive this car ....

The long awaited pics : :P

Thanks for all your comments. :D

Mondeo rims will be going on the turbo once its running. The Xr2i will be for sale once i have took a few bits from it , mainly the recaro seats, electric mirrors and the stereo. Gonna hope to get around £500 for it , as its got a years mot and tax on it.

lookin good mate, i'd keep the door pods they look pretty cool.
I've always wondered how is it "The Recaro fiesta" as opposed to a normal RST? Was it a demo car or something?

That still doesn't explain it though :P

Unless it really was just because of a sunstrip and some decals on the side skirts? :-?

I've wondered this myself in the past actually

UPDATE : 21/12/06

The Engine is in ! :D

I would like to say a big thank you to Ghost for putting up with my moaning lately and also for keeping all my stuff in the garage. Amongst all his own troubles he found time to fit it with me on this very cold day.

Well today at around 1.30pm we quickly removed the gear box from the bay, cv joints were bit of a pain which led to spilt gearbox oil everywhere.

Next up bolted it up to the engine.

Then lifted into the bay with crane. Went in 1st time no trouble.... :P By this time we had to use a torch to bolt up the mounts.

Sorry but no pics of progress as both of out gloves were caked in gearbox oil and cv grease, I went home smelling of it when i had been under the car. :x

Nomad has sorted me with the last few pieces to get this running. Radiator, Roose hoses, charge carrier & some interior , parcel shelf , carpet , rear door cards.

Last few bits needed to get it on the road : Full stainless mongoose exhaust, Samco turbo hoses, few gaskets , filters etc.

Cheers
Knuckles
