Expect a few more phone calls then
im not looking forward to fitting those poly exhuast hangers. Heard they are a right monkey to get on by loads of people.
Tested the Alarm/imobisiser as well - all is well.
im planning to respray the front & rear bumpers as they are a bit tatty. The rear bumper will have the tow cut out smoothed as the tow eye has been cut off.

When i got the xr2i front bumper the fogs surrounds were sprayed grey for some reason. Passenger side inner fog is smashed. Needs replacing.
Got a Green front bumper insert on other white bumper but it has a couple of small digs out of the strip. Really want a mint one.
Rear bumper has a green insert too

Well after seeing h196jne's White Rs looking standard i have always wanted one that looked that nice
Im still undesided as to how to style the Rs, but it will be alot of work and effort putting this one back to standard.

cheers turboboy, To be honest i want it looking like yours
I phoned burton power today and asked how much longer my hose kit will be from samco. They rang me back half hour later saying that it may be the end of January before i get my hoses.
I cant start the engine or anything until i have the boost hoses....
I'm not sure how long the engine has not been used but it has been painted satin silver and looks really clean. I will do a oil change and fit new spark plugs before i do anything.

Bit of a update :
Got a bit more done, Polished this up Friday night with a scourer pad. Fingers hurt after a while
Refitted the injectors with new o rings and washers, took apart the wiring loom and re-wrapped it in black insulation tape.
I think i need to replace the fuel pipe as it has been seperated there in the picture....
Re-assembling the Efi unit - fitting the injectors was a right pain. New gasket on ready to fit. As you can see i make a bit of a mess
It was all going well until this happened. I was trying to change over the old hose for the roose hose. but i managed to salvage another matrix from adams old mk3 dash.
Removed these from the rear lower shocks and fitted proper ford bolts. Coach bolts.....
Managed to get hold of a proper Rs air box after discovering the xr2i one is no good. Thanks frank
Notice the differences. Pics mainly for jay
Also need to fit new rear shoes at one point as they look like they have never been changed since 1990. Handbrake cable needs the yoke thing i think to fit.
Comments welcome

cheeky fock, mainly for me.
only cos i didnt know what pipe you were on about.
but now i see, that pipe on the side of the rs box is not for the boost contol valve, thats to the breather pot
nice bolts in the shocks, what next, corks blocking holes
and i see you got the matrix out, again sorry for not answering phone at time, i was trying to get my rs across a nice wet muddy field

Forgot that pic
No worries about the missed call - i just started pulling my hair out because i thought the dash would need to be removed to swap the matrix's.
I'm going to fit a single wiper mechanism until i sort out the flushed wiper hole. What can i do about the fuel line shown as i don't see a way it can be refitted.

it can be done but if you can get another i would really as it saves messing about as that pipe is hard and dont like coming off/going on

I did mention specifically when the car was collected that it needed new rear beam bolts.
These were the only thing I had lying around on a Sunday evening after removing the ZS beam for IanFRST and giving him the old bolts.
As the car had already had the engine stripped out and was only going to be rolling around for the foreseeable future I didn't go to the trouble or expense of getting the proper bolts.
Anyone who saw the car complete would have noticed that safety was a primary concern of mine and no corners were ever cut in that area (cage, harnesses, fire ext etc).

Don't worry about it Ade, I only used self-tappers in my front windscreen as I didn't have the original Ford rivets
Bad luck with the matrix! They're nobbing little things to get to!

Glad it got there ok mate
i cant wait to get this on the road and sort out all the little bits that need doing. Adam mentioned putting it on the rollers to check if everything is running right when i get a chance. I aint got a clue how turbo's run but i do know my xr2i runs like new after the ammount i spent on that engine.
