Update guys.....Nothing to update LOL!!!

The car has been to 2 alt people and they either cant find the time or just dont seem interested to help...so my alts are STILL sat here gathering dust!

Im going to give it a go myself once I have a bit of spare time...so will definately keep you updated in the meantime...however, if anyone knows of anyone who will be willing to take on the job PLEASE let me know!

In all honesty I have just been enjoying the system for what it is at the moment...its actually TOO loud for 'Joe Bloggs' as a daily and TBH most of the time im just cruising around just cranking literally anything and everything...the system is TRUELY built to play EVERYTHING! Those who have been to our local cruises will know....Madonna, MJ, Marvin Gaye, Pussycat Dolls, and LOADS of the good old bhangra and OLD skool punjabi music!

Update on the batteries...apparently they have arrived in the UK so hopefully ill be getting those this coming week...

The SPL D5 has also been sold, awaiting the final payment for it then its time to start collecting my SPL Dynamics ICE 3500d's....all 8 of them!

SO...whats left to do....

Get batteries
Get SPL Dynamics ICE 3500d's
Install alts
Install amps
Install batteries
Make everything look pretty
Start breaking more things!

Went to Ace Cafe last night for the Jap Vs German night and took some photos that I thought I would show on here...

Time for an update me thinks!

The power cable from alts to the rear batteries has been ran...in total, there are 4 runs of 0g Knu Konceptz Fleks positive, and 2 runs of 0g Knu Konceptz negative...This was run underneath the vehicle to keep things neater inside the cabing etc...besides, running 6 runs of 0g into the cabin wasnt going to be fun work!

The KK Fleks stuff is meant to be able to supply around 350a safely...so technically it should be OK for the power the alts will chuck out...if more runs need to be added, its not a problem in the slightest as we can keep adding them on the underside of the vehicle...

Luckily, due to it being a people carrier, there is TONS of room underneath the vehicle...the cable is pushed far up so things like the rear axle, petrol tank, sump, exhaust manifold will all hit the floor before the wiring is even within I would guess at 6inches to the floor!

This was the cabling from before - 45m of 0g!

Time to neaten things up!...Lots of cable ties at the ready!

These are some BIG heavy duty cable ties used to hold the 0g up against the chassis

You can see the wiring for the air compressors/relays etc just behind the 0g

PLENTY of space!! maybe I went a bit OTT on the size of the hole lol
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And a rather funny problem for a people carrier to have when trying to take the jack out pimsle!!
Image

Some people wanted to see my compressor etc and where it was mounted...well here ya go!!!
Image

Huge shout goes to Rayvern for sorting that out for me!! We didnt know howmuch room we would be left with or had NO idea what was even being put into the vehicle when the air ride was installed, so Ray opted to put the airtanks, compressors, relayz etc on the underside so we could easily access it should we need to!

Thats another mission out the way!!!!

Next up is seeing whether or not the air ride will cope with another 250-300kgs worth of weight!!!!!

On another note...the D5 has been sold so from next week we should start seeing the arrival of a pair of SPL Dynamics ICE 3500d's...ill be buying these a pair at a time when I can!

Another update for you lovely people!

Today I managed to get some time together and go pick up 4 of my 8 bass amps!

The amps in question - SPL Dynamics ICE 3500d's!

These will be strapped into pairs and each pair will run 1 sub...Each amp is rated at 3200wrms @ 0.5ohm....we will run each strapped pair at 1ohm so approx 6400wrms per sub at 14.4v. We have also been given the all clear that we can run these daily at 16.5v so I would expect somewhere between 7-8kwrms per driver daily when we have all 8 in!

For now however, we will run 1 amp per sub at 1ohm giving around 2.2kwrms per sub...however, with no decent power supply, dont expect anything major just yet! Dont forget this will only be run off 3 normal batteries for now until I can get the alts sorted and get the new XS Power D1400 batteries in my hands!

Some pics...majorly repetitive, however, I like taking photos, especially since getting the Sony NEX-5!!!

Another update for you all....

Went up to Milton Keynes to pick up my batteries as they arrived with Blade Ice (UK distributor for XS Power) this morning...

As said previously in the thread, we have decided to go for XS Power batteries as IMO, they are the best! Ive tried a good few battery combinations/brands out there, and these honestly surpass my expectations by FAR! You only have to look at the Blade Ice Chevy, Steve Meades Tahoe, Tommy KOB, Frankie etc etc etc, some of the worlds LOUDEST vehicles, which are ALL no budget builds...these guys could have used ANY batteries out there...but they chose XS Power...must be a reason hey ;) We cant all be daft ;)

Some details of the charging system....

There are 3 210a which we are trying to graft onto the Previa...ill definately add more if we think we can get them on there with relatively little work
These alts will be charging at 16.0-16.9v's
We have a XS Power step down module to bring the voltage down from 16, to around 14.8-14.9v constant which will be available to the entire vehicle and headunit/processors/lighting and midrange amps.
There will be a BigYellow battery that the module will 'charging' which the rest of the vehicle will be powered off
There are 4 runs of 0g + and 2 runs of 0g - running from front to back to send the charge of the alts to the rear batteries
The full 16+ volts from the alts charging the rear battery bank will be running all the bass amps which we have been assured will be fine to around 16.5-16.9v
Should we need more cable runs from front to back, we can easily add to them as there is PLENTY of room beneath the vehicle
The rear batteries will be 10 XS Power D1400's to start off with...depending on how the system copes, we plan to add more alts/batteries in the future!

As said, the batteries are the XS Power D1400's...10 of them to be precise...the specs are

D1400

Weight Lbs. - 43.56
Weight Kgs. - 19.75

Length - 10.24 in
Height - 7.20 in
Width - 6.65 in

MAX Amps - 2400
Ah - 50

So in total, we have 24000 amps and 500Ah in battery power for now, and over 630a in charging power from the alts....it might sound like its no where near enough...but as voltage increases, current draw decreases for the same power

On with some pics me thinks!

Standard ride height on the passionwagon lol!

Heres what was causing that boat like drop!

Image

Image

Image

Thought it would be nice to see what the batteries floated at...but I could only be bothered to check one and wait until I installed the rest to check them LOL!
Image

PERFECT! 14.85v floating!
Image

The Step down Module - nice colour to...ill have a multi-coloured engine bay...my external reg is candy blue lol!
Image

Image

Image

Image

Picked up some other goodies to to keep me happy lol!
Image

Image

I have to shift this in the next hour to the lock up :( But the pile is growing! All im missing now are the last 4 amps!!! Oh and some cabling and MDF!

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!

ALL 8's amps are now with us!!! Picked them up just before christmas...so that concludes the hardware list (apart from any fuse holders, extra cabling etc I might need!)

As normal, working on other projects (Focus, Corsa, Passat etc etc) alwas gets in the way of me working on the Previa...but I have managed to get bits and bobs done

Running the 4 amps now, the power supply is REALLY REALLY struggling! I dont really turn it up any more...I dont think its as loud as it was with the D5 in, but Ihavent set the gains etc...one thing is for sure though...the lows seem SOOO much more pronounced now...which is a good thing lol! Especially with the music I listen to!!!

An extra 4 amps
Image

Image

Image

More strips cut to mount the amps on
Image

Carpeted and screwed in place
Image

Image

ALL amps are now up! I needed to drop the last amp down otherwise the tailgate wont shut!
Image

Image

Image

The last 4 wont be wired up until the alts and batts are in!

Forgot to add...some people wanted to see how high the Priv is for daily drive...the rear I normally keep higher up to help with the ride...too little air means when I go over bumps the shocks can bottom out which aint the smoothest of things lol

Slammed

Up
Image

I do run it a bit lower on the back generally...but it all depends on the type of road im driving on....roads around here are terrible at the best of times!

Cant beat some slammage thought!!!

High 150db would be good, although I have heard the distributor whisper 160...but im not too fussed...I have less equipment than most of the BIG UK installs (12 15's 32 10's, 8 12s, 6 18's, 12 18's etc etc) so would like to be up there using as little equipment as possible!

Mate im over the moon with my 142.5db from my 12 in my Focus...but I think I need something louder as a demo vehicle to LOL

Hey everyone...just thought I would let you know whats been going on with the build as ive been very quiet recently...

The build stopped progress since the last updates as over the last 6-8weeks, I have been going through the toughest time I have EVER had in my life. My Grandmother, who I have lived with my entire life, was falling ill and was progressively getting worse. After a few weeks of trying to fight...she passed away on the 17th of Feb at 19.20 infront of my eyes. To say im devasted is the understatement of my lifetime! To have someone who has been in your life from the day you were born, just vanish...its cutting...literally dont know what to do with myself!

I dont feel confortable talking in too much depth on here about what im currently feeling...but those closest to me know what I have been through, and I thank them for it...im eternally greatful!

The ONLY bonus I can see from all of this, is my Grandfather and Grandmother (my Papa Ji and Beeji), are united again after spending the last 28years apart! We will all be united again at some point in time :)

My Gran was one of the very few people who could tolerate how loud I played music when testing cars...even the Previa!!! I think secretly she was a basshead and where I got my love for bass from!! Beeji...this build is ALL for you now...I dont care what numbers, I dont care what anyone else thinks...Beeji was always proud of what I created and this build is just for you!

For those who I have taken a while to reply to...I will try my best to get back to you ASAP as I try to adjust to such a radical change in my life...

Right now, where do I start on the alternators!!

You can see a bit of info here http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/ipb/index.ph ... uto-parts/

Lets start from the beginning...

Having known I will need some BIG alts to run my system, I originally planned on getting 3 XS Power 300a alts...however, the pricing on them was a bit more than I wanted to pay at the time so started looking at alternatives! After speaking to Adam (Dumdum), he assured me some alts he could source would be perfect and plenty enough for the job in hand...having arranged things with Adam to sort the external regulator mods out, we both decided it was time to hunt down the alts.Sonnie at Grove Auto Parts came up trumps after seeing his alts on a few UK vehicles doing the business....he suppled me with 3 210a Mitsibushi alts to get the ball rolling!

Et Voila!!

Alts were posted off to Dumdum to get modded and for him to supply me with an external reg...I got these back on the 9th of August...sweet...now time to arrange when they can be fitted....

A date was agreed for the vehicle to be dropped off....this was then delayed....delayed again....delayed further....you get the picture.....  FINALLY on Aug 31st the Previa was dropped off all the way in Derby, some 130-140miles away with promises of the build taking 1-2 weeks max!

After going around 10days with no phone calls or anything, I needed my MOT certificate which was in the car...after a GOOD number of calls, I finally got an answer! Again, plenty of promises progress was being made etc etc and designs were being finalised etc....but he seemed to be avoiding all my calls and texts...great!!!

I then get texts saying that he has hurt himself and wont be able to finish at the agreed (delayed) date...I understood things happen so was being very calm and agreed to wait longer....

Another week of avoiding my phone calls I finally get a call back explaining he had been away fishing etc etc....fair do's....

At this point you can imagine what im thinking........this guy has my vehicle, with God knows how many thousands of pounds worth of audio in...and he is clearly avoiding my calls and not getting back to me...text or phone calls!

I then get a phone call at the end of the September saying that he cant do the work as his manager doesnt want the vehicle there any more and no 'after work' work can be carried out in the workshop....

A month of my time with the vehicle completely wasted...I could of got SOOOO much done in that time that would have probably lead the Previa to be finished now!

As you can imagine, im pretty ticked off at this time...I have just wasted 1 month...and im over £120 lighter in petrol costs and having NOTHING to show for it.....want to know the funny thing?!?....the vehicle looked like it hadnt even been stripped apart...everything seemed the same as when I dropped it...apart from a broken rear view monitor mount which im not sure what caused it to break...as I have only broke it with bass before...

As you can imagine by this time I was fuming...I kept my calm...I politely asked for some money to be put towards petrol however was point blank refused stating he did it for a hobby etc etc....so theres me, collected the vehicle, £120 lighter and the car in the same if not a bit of a worse state then when I dropped it off.....

Off to company number two!!

These guys said they can do it within the week if I dropped it off on monday....PERFECT! Whats more, they were charging less money than the first place!!! So I went to drop it off to them....they seemed like they knew what they were doing...so I left it in good faith....towards the end of the week, I get a phone call saying that the work cannot be done as he hasnt got enough time to work on it and its a bigger job than he thought!

Can we see a pattern forming?! One thing though...atleast he was straight up and said he doesnt have the time...and the thing about this place was I could CLEARLY see everything had been apart, bumper off, rad out, lights out, etc etc...he genuinely said it was more work than he had time for....

After a LONG time debating who to take it to and who could do the work...I even tried tackling the job myself but a lack of welding skills was making it prove difficult...I had plenty of ideas in my head...but was struggling without being able to weld!

Through ALL of th people letting me down, Sonnie and Am were the only ones filling me with a bit of confidence...Sonnie was sure he could take on the work not a problem, but workshop issues on his end meant there will be a delay before I could go and drop it off for work to commence.

After my Gran passed away, I agreed to still drop it off to him as it was the best time as the Previa would not even get a look at while everything was going on for my Gran...so on 21st Feb it was dropped to Sonnie to let him and his team work their magic!

I was impressed with the workshop and the fact they were already stripping the Previa down while I was stll discussing things with Sonnie! After being filled with confidence, I was on my way back home and even before I had got home, I had already recieved 2-3 phone calls going through some fine details and answering Sonnies questions about some cabling in the vehicle...

Now, Sonnie originally said it will take a week...however, with my Grans funeral that week, I told him to keep it longer....which was a good thing! After going through various designs, Sonnie settled for design number 1...everything was built and fitted, however, Sonnie wasnt 101% on the design and wasnt happy with the belt configuration. So design number 2 was built...again, there were teething problems with this design to...so onto design number 2.5 which was a slightly revised design 2 by moving the idler/tensioner further away! Now things were looking better! BUT this now caused an issue with the fan touching the tensioner! This was solved with my permission to cut around 0.75" off each of the fan blades!

Now the alts were finally fitted!!!

There are a few teething problems...subframe mounts need to be renewed due to the extra weight on it now (probably an extra 25-30kgs if not a bit more!), I also need to make 1 more support for the cradle to give it extra support, and the engine doesnt idle when all 3 alts are running LOL!!! We have got round this problem by putting the alts on switches....so I can have either no alts, 1 alt, or all 3 alts running....everyday use ill use 1 alt, when demoing ill use 3 should I need to!

A quick booming session last night showed the alts charging at 14.8v, and with 1 alt running lowest voltage I saw was 13.9v (with lights on), with all 3 running, voltage was a rock solid 14.7v! I didnt give it too much volume but at similar volumes I used to see around 12.2v on the stock alt!

Enough of my crap!!! Thank you and goodnight LOL!

As I was saying earlier, I wasnt able to upload the vids onto YouTube...luckily all done now!

Remember I was saying I needed to make a brace for the alternators...this is why...

The rock is due to 2 main reasons...the mini-subframe rubber mounts need replacing, and I need to make a brace on the top...the rubber mounts are the main cause of the rocking. I will hopefully go and see the guys at Powerflex tomorrow and see if they can custom make me some polyutherane bushes.

I also have an adjustable regulator on the car...so I can change the voltage whenever I need to. Its a simple adjustment knob which is connected to my regulator...highest I have set it to so far is 15.3v with no issues

Finally....some videos of the air ride....HUGE thanks to Ray at Rayvern for sorting this!

Dont you just LOVE camber!
