Postby rwd xr2 on Mon Feb 09, 2009 5:14 am

hi there i have been working on my project for 5-6 years but unfortunatly my car has always been in the wrong hands to have it resprayed or to do the rwd conversion cuz i never had a garage but now its in my mates garage and i can work on it but i was actually lucky that i found this car on ebay already converted to rwd with 2.8 v6 lump thats gone now and i have a very high spec 2.0 zetec turbo lump going hoping to run 350bhp with je pistons and t3/4 cossie hybrid turbo and front mount intercooler and lots of other bits here is some pictures of the car when i first got it and as its progressing on i havent done much yet but i am working my way.
i will have some questions further down the line and hopefully more experienced guys can help me out to get this car up and runing there aint alot to do really just got to figure out what to fit where thats all

the rear setup of my car is p100 pick up, it has the floor pan of xr4x4 with the transmision tunnel
type9 gearbox for now getting runing i might upgrade at future date.
i need some coilovers for the front and 4 the bak but i am not sure if it will be straight swap or if there is a lot work involved.
i want to upgrade my diff aswell what can use to upgrade it? i was told that the 3.0l cortina one would go straigt into my casing is this true? if so i cant seem to find any is there other alternative?

my car has the wide arch panique body kit but i am using the wrc front and back bumpers instead.

does anyone have a thermostat housing relocation unit for the zetec?

i also want to have rear disk conversion. is this possible?

my front brakes are cossie 2wd i think not sure.

i have quad conversion lights front and back ones to go on or after burners as they call it.

gtir bonnet scoop with the escort rsturbo bonnet vents.

6 point roll cage.

home built dash as the steering colum cant go in the original place

cobra seats, petrol tank relocated in the boot with a plate ontop to hide it.

can anyone confirm which engine cross member i have? i need to get some new engine mounts and i am not sure what they are? and i need to get the brackets to go on the zetec engine mounts.

thanks for all your input in advance

That has crossed my mind.

But I refuse to start cutting that car up once again

If I get another shell for nothing, I will RWD V8 it for a laugh

alot of work going into it, but would look soooo much better if it was kept standard looking, that bonnet scoop on the roof looks fairly out of place, and standard bumpers and some little deep dish 13s would look awesome

the bonnet scoop is actually going on to the bonnet it was just sitting on top of the roof thats all
to be hones its a personal choice i have been dreaming of this car the way i want it and hopefully it will look good
thanks for the comment tho
the deep dish i might go for and the car is going to be pure black with metal flake inc the wheels and interior is going to be black and blue

It all looks sierra based by the looks of it, it's certainly sierra 2wd front. So it probably is Sierra P100.

In which case it's an Atlas rear axle. Which will be on leaf springs. For a ZT you will want to at least 5-link the rear end and put it on coilovers.

This is a five link setup with coilovers using a Capri 2.8i Atlas axle I did on my P100:

the front of the car will look similar to my old xr2 but with quad conversion, big front mount intercooler and 6 angel eye spotlights maybe even 8

:o

Have you driven it like that??

Unless there is something else that I can't see. The standard setup on a fiesta rear end is not suitable for a rwd application by far. Are the shocks mounted the same?

The suspension setup is seriously not up to the power of a ZT. That setup is designed for a FWD xr2, not powered from that axle. The bushes in the trailing arms are not up to the job, nor are the shock mounts. If i were you I would upgrade to a 5-link setup. It's a proven design.

Regards shocks. You need to find out which front hubs you have in order to get coilovers. The cosworth 2wd hubs are different to the standard sierra front hubs. They are definately 2wd sierra though.

The above axle is for sale if your interested. It's a 2.8i diff, atlas casing, with rear disk setup and mounts for a 5-link. Its a welded diff for drifting.
