Late Pumas and Mk5 did. Aircon is extensive and you may find the HCS engined cars didn't come with it. If they did it may still not be a straight swap as the block design may have changed for the mounting brackets.

Extensive pipework and expensive labour costs to charge an aircon system mean most people don't bother with it, plus it saps power in a big way.

Al, Did you read my post about the mk3 screen not fitting for this conversion? I looked at the r-tec write up and it said that the screen needed a little trimming

Andy,

As I said, I haven't done this conversion yet. Your best bet is to get the Mk3 and Mk4 screens held up against each other at a glazier's. Don't forget the Mk4 screen would, in theory, still need to be slightly larger as the rubber is thinner.

Oh christ, someone call in the bloody translator - this man is drunk!

Yeah, I see what you're saying chap. Removing a bumper to tow the car is hard work though and if you can't get the back wheels off it can be almost impossible to get to the metal-screws.

Err, Ian, have you seem how much clearance you get between rubber and wheelarch on a lowered car?

Also, have you any idea the number of Fiestas I have seen with rounded-off screw heads cos the owners or workshop "thought they could get the bumper off without removing the wheels"?

I know I don't always recommend the "easy" way but I do always try to recommend the most reliable way.

Anyway, I like reminding you of your tit-headedness

question1

I notice that the Mk4/5/Puma dashes have passenger side airbags

My mk3.5 doesnt have passender side, just drivers....

Would I be able to make the passenger side functional if I put mk4/5/puma dash in?

question2

If it put a mk4/5 tailgate on, can I use my existing lock barrel so that I dont have to get a key from the donor car?

I would really prefer to have the lock on the tailgate.

Thanks in advance!

personally i would say stay a million miles away the airbags, and in no circumstances try and chop it in to the exsisting loom!

I'd love to have airbags, [Just if nothing else safegaurd passengers from my driving! ] and think it could quite easily be possible, esp. if doing the above conversion. However there is no way that i'd do it myself!!
