Those are taunus/granada doorhandles.. same type as the escort mk3/Fiesta mk1 ... but then chromed..

The doormech works the other way around (it lifts the rod.. in stead of pushing it down.. so i swapped left and right.. and drillen a hole in the pushing side.. and made myself a new rod..

used a dremel to make the mechanism fit (see earlier posts) through the door.. drilled out the fixing points from 4 to 5 mm, which did the job..

It's not that hard to install the loom under the dash .. as long as you know where some connectors have te be..

the loom in the interior isn't hard either.. just put is backwards .. and the connectors will tell ..

the engine loom will be a bit harder .. (well.. mine is .. because it's a RHD loom modified to LHD .. and not all wires are the correct lenght.. ) but it fitted before.. so it wil fitt now :-p

The Engine will be put in soon .. but we need to wait a little for the gearbox to arrive (it had some 2nd and 4th gear probs after overhaul 2 years ago.. and now was the time to do something about it)

enjoy

Well .. we've been busy again this weekend..

cleaned the front suspension parts and some enginebay parts
painted them.. hamerite black, hamerite silver.. and high gloss black

also painted some plastic bodyparts (roof strips, sunroof-frame and driving and foglight frames)

Fixed up the tank..
Fitted an AC cossie pump

Tried to clean up my koni's.. but will get them resprayed.. the violet paint was to hard to get off of them normally ..

well .. this week the fueltank and fuel- and brake lines will be refitted..

Well .. some news..

Gearbox will be back 2nd week of Feb.

It was reconned, but had some minor problems for 1,5 years already..

Occasionally it would fall out of 2nd gear..

4th gear was crunchy when warm, both from 3rd -> 4th .. as well as from 5th to 4th

4th gear synchromesh looked good.. and was replaced when reconded.
4th gear selection rod wasn't .. so they replaced it (was the only rod not to be replaced last time)

final bearing was replaced too..

when gearbox is back .. we can lift in the engine again .. and mount the front suspension back on..
then the car can be put back to it's 4 'feet'
and the final touches can be applied (mounting the rest of the interior.. and building back up the engine bay ..

Pics will be there.. sooon

pods, gauges, compo set, subwoofer, paint-bill, gearbox, Inox-brake lines, L+R exit backbox, tinting windows ..

hmmz.. total of 1000+ pounds.. )-: .. but then again .. some of them are not A prio .. so will have around 500 needed for A prio stuff

Latest update.. still no pics (bottom isn't done yet ... )-: )

Had some setbacks. ..
one of the biggest setbacks: my "brother in law to be" had a little accident .. well .. little..

he tried to step over a piece of wall (just 1" high) but forgot to lift his feet.. and landed on his left arm .. result.. dislocated shoulde

He will be 'busy' with it for at least 6 weeks )-: ..
He was working on a front bumper of a Escort MK7 .. so had to finish that job for him.. while he went with the ambulance to the hospital...

We had planned to lift the engine in place past weekend.. but that didn't happen ..

I myself have a cold at the moment )-: .. and don't feel 100%...

My GF's car shut down past weekend... but we fixed that ... (fuel pressure regulator had leaked a bit .. and the connector to the ECU had sprung loose)

pfff..... will try and fix the bottom this week (have to place tank, filler hose, fix brake lines at the rear)
and then try to lift the engine in .. with just some guidence of my brother in law to be ..

Hopefully it will run before FITP .. but.. not to afraid of that :-p

wish me luck ..!!

Poo luck mate - things like this are sent to try us!

I hope it all comes together in time for FITP - I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see it there :)

Cheers,

Andy

Well .. after some setbacks (see above).. started again ..
Cleaned some suspension parts, de-rusted them, painted them (hamerite)
Image

Did the same with some plastic stuff (roof rail cover, fog/driving light surround, sunroof)
Image

Also the fueltank got it's turn .. after derusting and de-greasing gave it a Zinc coating.. and the bottom end got a silver hamerite paintjob.
The Cossie-fuelpump was also fitted.
Image

After some fight fitting the fuel and brake lines underneath the car, the fueltank could be fitted back into place.
Image

Also the filler-hose has gotten back to it's original position .. and the aluminium fuelcap was fitted
Image

The engine bay has gotten it's turn too..
Some brackets got painted.. the master brake cylinder has gotten a new coat of paint. The loom has been put into place
The windscreenwhipermotor and interiorfan have been installed..

Well .. the gearbox was all fixed again .. the 2nd gear selector was replaced, together with some synchromesh

Picked up a engine hoist..

The engine came of it's resting place (a trailer) to be installed again.
Image

the gearbox.. not clean .. but that will be taken care of.
Image

All the engine parts .. back again.. but now we had a problem..

Engine to high... or ehhm car to low..
Image

Well .. problem solved, just slide it through the wheelarch
Image

Lifted into place.. without any hassle, just some pulling and pushing..
Image

Also fitted the new -31 actuator
