Home Audio Kit

Morning benders.

Just wondering what sort of setups you guys have at home for audio/movies? Any pics? Thought it'd be a good to discuss a topic which isn't cars!

My setup currently consists of:
Onkyo TX-SR606 amp (self-repaired HDMI board)
Vision board speakers (free from work, 90W)
Creative Centre speaker
Creative Surround speakers

It sounds OK, but not great. The bass crackles when cranked up above +2 and I get a lot of hiss from some inputs (mainly PS3).

I'm picking up a pair of Eltax Monitor III's, bi-amp this week, along with a Gale Centre 10, and am currently bidding on a pair of Eltax Titanium 1.3 floorstanders which will replace the surround speakers.

Really looking forward to picking this kit up and giving it a good old shakedown.

Next purchases for the kit will be an Apple TV (for streaming audio from laptop and iPhone + mirroring), and a record player. There's some decent vinyl in the loft I need to listen to!

So what systems/speakers do you guys have? Any extravagant ones, or are you happy with an iPod docking station?

I've got a full set of wharfedale diamond 7 speakers, running off a Sony amp. The front floor standing speakers are bi-amped. I've also got a budget eltax sub.

I need a new turntable as I've for various vinyls myself. Inputs wise, sky box is connected by optical, and my Mac mini is connected by a stereo to phono cable, but need to get an optical to use instead

No problems with bass, I can turn the system up to full without distortion :)

TV Speakers atm.

But I have a couple of custom XBMC boxes which are connected to a NAS with all my backed-up films.
Low(ish) spec but more than enough for 1080p DTS quality movies.

It's odd - I'm more of an audio guy than video - most of my video content is the occasional DVD or On Demand on Virgin. My total data usage equals around 400Gb

I am currently using Raspbmc for AirPlay, but that will go in favour of the Apple TV (which also then supports mirroring my phone and laptop displays to the TV).

Connection wise, everything is HDMI via the Onkyo amp - apart from when I plug my laptop in, then it's using Optical.

It's an unbelievably cheap system, I got the amp for free because the HDMI board suffered the common Onkyo issue where it stops handshaking properly. When I got it back to mine, I replaced the dodgy capacitors, fired it back up and now have full use of the HDMI ports again.

you can see my Beats headphones there also which match beats audio on my HTC phone which has hell of a better kick than using my iPod

connects my Xbox to the system via optical, and my desktop via standard 3.5mm jack

the bass is outstanding, its constantly on low, even then my dad has a moan about it being too high
