Re: gym and boxing everyday takes its toll
I've always found that there are limits to what you can sensibly squeeze in every week. Professional atheletes can afford to train for 3+ hours each day because they can spread it out across an entire working day. For most of us, our training has to take place before and/or after our working day, which invariably means we're trying to exert ourselves at times of the day which are less than ideal.
Boxing is an incredible workout, but requires a lot of energy. Working hard in the gym (by which I don't mean cruising on the crosstrainer for 20 mins, jogging for 20 mins, then doing a few half-hearted bicep curls) requires a great deal of energy too, which also means recovery. If you start doing more than your working week allows you to recover from, it really will start to get on top of you. Your muscles won't repair, you perhaps aren't feeding yourself what you need to be, and all of a sudden, you can really turn yourself off training. It's far better to operate within your limits, and to get three GOOD hard training sessions in each week, than it is to get to the stage where you're reluctantly dragging yourself to the gym, tired and sore before you've even started.
I'd love the luxury of a career which allowed me the time and support (e.g. physiotherapy) to train for several hours each day, but I think I missed that boat! That's not to say that great gains can't be made by those who have "normal" jobs
Do you think you'll take your boxing training any further and get in the ring for real?

Re: gym and boxing everyday takes its toll
now im not heavy on training, im just doing my bit to body build and condition myself
but ive just started on a new muscle group and its wrecked me, put me off training for a 3rd day running now
but i dont sleep properly on my work days, i work at 6am and ive always been a late sleeper, so im getting 5 hours max a night, 4 days of the week
so when i begun training abs and lower abs the other day, i done them 2 days in a row and i was knackered for the 2 following days
i will do them again today but gingerly
its basicly 50 sit ups with a 3kg weight behind my head, then 30 leg raises, each set in one go
but i need to do it, been focusing on arms and chest too much lately

This is in 'Random Distractions', a sub forum dedicated to random banter, you were having a pop at someone in a general 'Car' discussion. I think you need to learn to spell by the looks of it too, maybe get an iPhone, the autocorrect is quite good and might make it a bit easier to understand you.

eat a healthy portion of protien before and after training buddy, it helps a lot with recovery and muscle growth. i train roughly 4 to 5 days a week, 1 week consentrating more on cardio and then one week more on weights etc.... good fluid intake is vital to hydrate your system. it all helps
