}GUIDE{ posting a set of wheels :) lol

Postby ianFRST on Fri Dec 02, 2005 5:27 pm

i had to wrap a set of wheels today so i thought id do a guide as i went along  :D

materials you will need : -

2 rolls of parcel tape (roughly 80p per roll)
1 roll of stretch wrap film (available from staples £7.99 for a 250metre roll)
lots of cardboard (free if you can find aload of boxes)
Image

lets get started

the wheels in question
Image

get your roll of stretch wrap film, stand the wheel up and start wrapping it around the wheel
Image

do this about 15 - 20 times, or till your desired thickness is reached
Image

turn the wheel around, and start to wrap the wheel the other way
Image

again, wrap until you are satisfied. and you should end up with this :D
Image

wrap some parcel tape around the wheel, to make sure the film stays in place
Image

cut the cardboard box, and place the wheel ontop
Image

pull the side up and over, and tape down
Image

cut another piece of cardboard, and stick ontop of the wheel to protect the face
Image

now to sort the side out. fitting a square piece of cardboard around a circular wheel just wont work. so we have to fo some modifying, lol
Image

cut down along the bends in the cardboard, and tape down
Image

then fold the top down ontop of them
Image

repeat 3 more times to complete the wheel
Image

then repeat the above 3 more times again to have the whole set wrapped up and ready to post :D

thats very good of you ian. God knows how much i've been out of pocket by buying bubble wrap etc.

Some poeple can get a sad on when the parcel arrives with a £7.02 postage price on it when you've charged em £8 or £9.

They dont take into consideration all the packagin you may have purchased to wrap the damned thing.

I just had the removals take my shipping to cyprus today. They left me with a 1.5 m wide roll of bubble wrap. must be about 400 m of the stuff, plus loads of tape and boxes. time to get selling on ebay.

christ - when I got my 17s from SWT a while back all they did was cover the faces with cardboard bubble wrap and tape the wheel bolt box inside one of the wheels.

Totally agree with you there Chris, although some people have taken the piss with me before though, £5 for posting a memory card or something

Nice work Ian, that clear wrap stuff is ace, can't believe how strong it is! :o
I don't know how you sell so much on ebay, I wouldn't be arsed to wrap it all up! Small items that come in boxes all the way!
