FRST Doorcard

Problem or technical question?

FRST Doorcard

Postby Darren on Sun Nov 20, 2016 7:10 pm

Hello all,
Just got myself another FRST having not had one for a few years, started to go through the little jobs list I've set myself for over winter and the first one was to refit the drivers doorcard as the top wss away from the frame.......removed everything and cleaned then unclipped card and refiited by first pushing the top into the clips then fasrening all the small lantern clips around the edges. Replaced handle and speaker cover etc. But the top of the card just keeps popping out.....I think thd previous owner has either deformed it or worn a bit off where the clips go so it doesnt hold it. Any ideas anyone? Apart from the fit its mint, just looking for some advice on making it stay put.
Thanks.

All sorted now, the Masonite material had kinda de laminated and wasn't holding in the clips so I first soaked each suspect area of the doorcard with thin superglue, realinged the section and squeezed the card back together and held in place with some small spring loaded clamps and left to set. Secondly I removed each clip and squeezed them all to make the gap slightly smaller. When all sections had set I replaced clips and doorcard and refitted......looks really good now so really pleased with it.
