cheers mate, not really got much plans for it, i got 16 inch mondoe rims for it but they need a little referb and some tyres but thats not critical just yet, i need to spend what money o got on bits that need it now.

my main plan is to get it drivable again asap as i want to get the MOT done beofre the old one runs out (7th august) i know the body wont be painted and there still be some bits to be done to the body work but time and money is against me, money more so at the mo :(

still i got enough to get one with at the mo, just got to finish this pug im fixing for a mate and sort my sister car out and MOT that, fingers crossed both will be done tomorrow and i can kick start my ass and get on with my own car

forgot to say also that im getting my pace intercooler modded, anyone with one of these knows the top pipe is a too lower angle and it makes the top boost pipe touch and rub the top rad hose, or is it just me   anyhow im getting it modded and havng new lugs welded onto it so i can spring mount it as the ligs on it have snapped off.

might leave this till the engines in so i can get a nice angle that makes it all fit nice, but then again i might just get it done this week while i have a little bit of money, and fingers crossed being a 1 off job and me paying cash i might get it for a "drink" :D

little update, despite my back being in a bad way today i got my ass out to my parents place to get some bits done.

first off though i got 2 new bottom arms off ebay the other day £19 inc post, brand new :) , yeah there a cheap make but a bush fell out of 1 of my old ones and it wasnt much more (75p) to buy these 2 bottom arms to the cost of 4 new bushes (both sides) so even if the ball joints go after 6 month, f uck it, the 2 in my old arms are very good plus i have 2 new ones spare anyway, so a bargin i think as its not norm the arms that give out, its the ball joints.

anyhow, when out my parent i done the fuel tank and the gearbox, i had to scrape the wax off the bottom of the tank and rub it down with thinners to remove it all, then it was on with the red oxide primmer hand painted then top coated with silver hammerite, thick-ish.

lucky it was a very hot day and it dryed real quick so im glade as i didnt think i would get both sides done today.

next up gearbox, what a f ucking job that is to clean off :x anyhow i got it fairly good gave it a wipe over with a rag with thinners and primed it then painted.
i was gunna do it silver but at the last minute i decided to spray it satin black as the block is silver, prob wish i had done it silver but seeing it black reminds me of the day i picked up the recon box years ago
ive had it apart a few time since to fit a different third gear  LSD and replace a worn selector arm and change the selector on the first gear to the bigger one it should of had

now i got to replace the diff seals as it was leaking a little oil whilst on the blocks   ill drain the oil and fill with some nice new oil too

before anyone asks, there not my disc in the bacground, just old ones from my dads van awaiting the be set in concrete in a week or so

sorry for small pics had to do them on my phone.

yeah i see the light too, but i reckon someones gunna switch it off as i get there
fingers crossed saturday should see the under side painted, well stone chipped as thats all its getting.
i know im behind with that but hey,$hit happens
should have the battery try in sat too, and maybe, if my dads got time (as he welding my sisters metro) i will get the lower font panel on but im not to worried if that dont happen as that can be done once engines in if need be.

will be going to fords again next week to order a load of bits, just some bolts and stuff and exhaust studs, was gunna get them today but had to take 1 of the kids rabbits to the vets wednesday night and that took the £35 i had, oh well, no matter. next week will be ok :)

only done a few bits today as i had to do a,bit of work on ym sisters car for her.

got the battery tray welded in, cleaned up the floor and preped it for painting, primmed some area's etc so tomorrow when i go over it should be a case if spraying the under side (stonchipping) then sorting some bits out like brake pipes (wanna repaint them) and dumping some rubbish and grabbing the rear axle and other bits i got at my house, and if its dry enough, start bolting bits back up.

the bottom of the tank is gunna be blasted with stone chip also so that will be black, might even give the top a coat as well after all that work painting it silver

didnt get any pics today as i had my hands covered in cr ap

na its been weled in in the same place.

did toy with the idea of bolting it in as it has got in the way in the past before but went with the weled in the end.

it dont look nice and preety yet as i just cleaned welds, sealed them, primed and top coated, the whole lenth of inner wing where it welds to the bottom of the tray needs painting so it will be painted better when thats all preped but its seald and water proof and i will be blasting down behind it with wax oil tomorrow :)

right heres the pics of the battery tray then,

still got to paint the inner wing part and clean up the bay but that can and will be done a little later.

got the under side painted, as your see the inner arches are spotless, where as most rust mine are solid as a rock. :)

the black is under seal that i couldnt wire brush off on the inner arches btw.
decided to do the bottom of the tank as well.
dont worry about the red bits in the pic, its not a bit thats been missed its just how the pic cam out :-? :-?

anyhow dude to having to let that lot dry i didnt do much else today, it was bad enough running out of stonechip and having to to and get another 2 L of it and used it all!

cheers mate, any haelp and advise can be got off this site as ya prob already know, im self taught, and know more than most of the c0ck heads working in garages over here  plus my dad is self taught and has been doing it for focking donkeys so his helpping me as well.

advice i can give ya, get a manual, take ya time, dont start anything you dont think you can finish/do safely unless ya can get help from some that can.

as for tools, if ya havent got loads of cash to splash, check out boot sales and charity shops and some new cheap stuff is ok to start with.

well i'v been using this site for a while now and i'v learned loads from it so far. Just a case of getting myself another fezzer lol. I wanna get an rst but dont think it will be the next car as I can't afford to insure it untill next march, by which time i will be 21 and have some no claims :)

dunno really mate, if weather holds sunny for a while (as its pi$$ing down here right now) then the under side will have tank, rear axle lines etc etc back on and engine bay all preped read for engine by monday, then its a case of building the engine and putting it back in, if all goes well ( which it dont always  ) this time next week should see the engine in, prob wont be ready to run etc but it willbe in and stuff connected like drive shafts etc, basicly eveything under it will be done so i can lower the car back down.

once i get to that stage i gotta trial fit the inter cooler, as i was the top pipe angled up more, so ill cut that, bend it to where i want it and get it welded back up, once thats doen i will get all the other bits on engine, so hopfully come monday 17 or there abouts it should be sat on 4 wheels, ticking over without any oil/water leaks

but im low on cash at the mo and theres some bits i still need to get, for example 2 diff seals for the gear box plus sopme bolts and stuff so it might take a bit longer as some bits i cant do till i got some money :(

no matter, anyway after that, it needs 2 new doors fitted, the filler repair panle fitted and im fitting a new passager wing, but apart from 2 mint doors ive got the wing and filler panle.
tell a lie i got a drivers side door off a xr2i i stripped ages ago but im thinking of going with mk3.5 doors as they have side impact bars and the hole is right to fit my late spec mirrors back on, but it depends what doors i can find at the scrappy
