not as well as i wanted! :-? im stuck with my bottom rad hose to the 16v waterpump!! i thought i was doing ok with the pipes i made but it def wont fit so i have got to get to the scrappers and have a look what else there is :(

i gotta take the erst and frst downpipes to my dads work tomorrow and grind the end off the erst as the mating face is bolt on not clamp on then weld the last 2.5 inch of the frst onto the erst pipe as the erst is to short, this will also make it clamp on to the system!! :-?

i will be paying for my t3 pipe tomorrow too so then i will have the oil system sorted! i have done most the wiring today just need to make something to mount the fan switch into prob be an alloy bung for the outlet that needs blocking on the thermostat housing! will stick some pics up in the week as i left the camera at the garage this time!!

cheers.

Re: xr2i 2.0L budget ZT 30/11 small update!

Postby dangerousdave on Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:06 pm

so after a few set backs on sunday i just did a few simple things first was the r5 oil filter

Image

then i got some m8 studding and cut some down to fit my sandwhich plate and inj rail

Image

also fitted my fse fuel pressure regulator which proven to be a gammon slipper, so i had to saw the corner from my rockerbox pretty close to the bolt holding it down too.....picyures next time!! lol

also removed this and cleaned up the engine bay and started plugging the loom back in!! if any one knows what it is/does let me know as i would be interested in knowing if i need to wire it up somewhere!! lol

Image

also stuck a new thermostat in as the last owner had filled the housing with gunk because they fitted the rubber wrong!!......

Image

well i nipped to my old workplace today to get my mate to weld up exhaust so it will fit,.... well i hope it will   and whiles i was there i was going to knock up a bung to fit the fan sensor to a empty pipe coming from the thermostat housing, but i thought id still see if i had the skills so i knocked this up from a solid 2"x2" alloy block :D :D and i am impressed with it to :) :) ....

the top view, where the fan switch will sit!

Image

and from the front, i thought id make it mount also i added a bleed screw as i know ford like to make you stuggle!! lol

so a rought look at how it will be assembled to the bulkhead

Image

let me know what you think to it!!

more pictures tomorrow when i do some more work on it!! :)

cheers dave!

that white thing on the coil pack is a surpressor, the early mk3 had them on the passanger inner wing up near the passanger bonnet hinge.
it stops spark interfering with rev counter, radio etc

well had a few hours at the garage today!and hit another small problem!! with my cam covers in place there is only just enough room to squeeze a waterpipe into the place its ment to go so do you think under hard accelaration it may reduce water flow?? :-? :-? i may look into fitting a mk4 escort water bottle where the airbox used to be! anyone else tryed that before? or ill make a spacer up and rase the bottle so the pipe fits over the camcover like this???

Image

made a bottom hose fit using part of the rs1800 hose and part of an escort mk4 hose as the escort bottom rad hose point out like the rs one....

Image

had to saw this much off my rocker cover to fit the rst rail and fse fpr on the end!

Image

not as much room as the cvh between the inlet and bulkhead!

Image

and a quick mock up with noting bolted down yet just too see how it will look, roughly!!

on the 8 valve ones its on the passanger inner wing mate

oil pressure gauge, your need a adaptor, take oils pressure switcxh out of blockl, put adaptor in gblock, pressure switch on adaptor and oil pressure gauge into the adaptor

i was going to put the oil temp in the t piece too but i have put one of the sump bungs in that had a hole in for the sensor, but i prob wont keep it there!!

but yeah if you have an autogauge manual manual that you could scan it would be a big help! :)

Postby dangerousdave on Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:02 pm

lol i took the sump off then wedged loadsa rags and news paper in the bores then put a lid from a spray can inside to catch the majority of swarf when drilling then i tapped it and stuck a compressor fitting in like my oil return on the sump! also put loadsa ptfe tape round it too!! im hoping its enough if not ill do one the otherside too!! ill have to wait and see but the cvh turbos only have the one!!

im planning on putting it to a baily brether pot or something simalar but cheaper! maybe even a plastic type like the cvh!? along with the one from the rocker and then im going to plumb the one from the sandwhich plate to it to with a one way valve on it just not sure wether to have a filter on it to atmosphere too?? maybe also with a one way valve?? need to look into it!

so how far along are you? got an update for us yet? :)

i went to the garage today to look at a mates car then had an hour playing with paint and that dam water hose!!

so heres the hose! i was thinking of chopping up my samco to fit and connecting them up with the straight copper pipe connectors as there the perfect size and they have a bit on the end to stop the jubilie clip coming off! and there uber cheap :)

so basicly do you guys think this pipe is too squashed into the gap or will it be ok with a front engine mount on!?????

Image
Image

cheers,
or will it provide aenought water if i have it like this? or do i need to raise the bottle if i do that??.......

- as before my radio!
s asume its just the one wire for the sensor then?

only asking as i have 2 wires on the loom my mae gave me and that was wired in his rst!!!

also i am fitting this now to relocate my battery to the boot, and make it look nice and factory !!

a bmw e36 terminal distrubution clamp!! (well thats what im calling it! :) ) :) has the cover too just not pictured!! :)
