Re: My FRST - in bed for winter - check out the B reg!
Hi chaps,
havny been on here for ages! Been real busy with my house and stuff. But as i mentioned earlier in this post the FRST is in bed for winter and i now have a b reg fiesta and shes a stunner!
Its 22 years old, had two owners and only done done 64K.
I have all the paper work for the car even the original bill of sale.
The previous owners were elderly and they kept in a Garge and covered it ib blankets!
The car is'nt perfect, shes had some welding done (inner back end of cills only) also has some "elderly drivers" dinks on the passenger door and bonnet but for £300 you cant complain, have a look at the pics.
Long term plans are to use the shell for my xr2 and it will be sprayed grey, i have EVERY part needed to do the re-shell but no time!
For now the car is staying like this, only i will be putting my xr2 suspension on soon with the -40mm springs, also in the pics the rear spoiler is just tacked for fitting purposes. on and will be fittred correctly soon.
Spotlights, seats, interior and 1600 cvh to go in as soon as i have a spare 5mins to my self.
In short i LOVE this car, its so much fun to drive and people cant belive the condition of the old girl!.

Cheers guys.
whilst its a shame that the car has had some welding its refreshing to see the front end is immaculate, they rust really bad here normally.

Has the OS front wing been sprayed btw?
There is a little over-spray on the earth lead and another wire there.

hmm to my knowledge the front has'nt been sparyed, will have a closer look when its light.
Max - the number plates are steel, no plastic fantastic on this beast!
Surprisingly for a 1.1 4 on the floor the old girl dos'nt go too bad, lol but not quite on a par with the FRST Cant wait to get the xr2 suspension on as the current set up is a little tired, but does stil handle better than most mk3's ive driven. Feels so small and is so drivable brill fun, its a shame Ford dont make cars like this anymore! their all to heavy and have crappy power steering etc just takes the rawness out of the drive!
retro is the way foward.

My old man had a B-reg Orion back in the day with the same style number plate.

i know what ya mean mate, my rs even with coil overs doesnt really handle as well as my old lowered ar2, and now i got another xr2 i cant wait to get it mot'ed and start drving it, they are nippy and they handle like go , i agree, retro is the way forward, but the rs is staying too

Re: My FRST - in bed for winter - check out the B reg!
Hi all,
just a small update really, no pics im afraid but yesterday i treated the B reg to some lovly waxoyl.
Sparyed the entire underside, rear arch wells, front arch wells, right upto the inner wings, drilled a small hole in the top face of the cills which allowed me to get the spray gun in the cill and pump it full of oyl, also done all down round the headlights and battery tray.
So that should keep the car in good nick for a good few years to come. I was really surprissed as to how good the car is underneath, the only welding the car has had is the rear end of the inner cills the rest is very good, even the chassis rails havnt been welded, which is very rare for these.
Next is the suspension, then the brakes and then the 1600 will be slotted in.
that is all.
Gareth.

Re: My FRST - in bed for winter - check out the B reg!
Hi ,
yeah a lot of people are undecided about the splitter, TBH if i did'nt have a FMIC i would take the spliiter off as i too dont like them much (Without FMIC) when i look back at my old pics when i fitted the spilter (pre intercooler days) it does look a little odd but when its matched with the intercooler i think it looks a little better, if you follow me?
The above shows a good comparison with a std bumper, my old xr2i on the left & my FRST on the right.

Well the thought has crossed my mind, but i hav'nt got the time at the mo - plus one of the appeals of these cars (for me anyway) is that they dont have any annoying irretating electrics, ecu's etc etc
I do plan at some point to put my xr2 engine in.

Im enjoying your thinking.
Might just have to settle for a stnd xr2 engine for the mo, with a k&N, xr2i cam and a magnex exhaust!

Re: My FRST - in bed for winter- *small update to the B reg*
Evening mate,
Just wanted to say that the b-reg looks awesome .
Looking at is making me smile - reminds me of my brothers F-reg mk2 which I used to nab and take to school - I had some good times with that car.
Keep up the good work - and keep it on the road

Cheers chap, i do fully intend to keep this "modern classic" on the road, the shell is good, and whilst the car was on the ramps being tracked we had a good look underneath and we were both impressed at the condition of the undeside.
Thanks mate i do have an xr2 as well, so i could put the entire kit on, but im undecided.
THeres a couple of reasons why, 1 is it will be quite hard to fit and secondly they atract rust like flowers attract bees. (lol)
I do agree that it would look very good and very different but ... we'll see.
Ideally next on the list is the xr2 dash and then the xr2 engine. XR2 engine needs a good clean, block needs painting and just genraly tidyed up a bit but its been rebuilt so should be a good un.
Gareth.

Heres some pics of the xr2 rear beam.
I ve wire brushed and sanded it down and then gave it a lick of paint as well
The beam is being replaced because my original is not very well, the suspension pegs snapped resulting in the axle
moving around.

Still not too sure on fitting the xr2 kit - im defo putting the 1600cvh in but i was thinking of just leaving the outside as is, with the exception of my newly fitted xr2 front bumper and spot lights when i get round to fitting them.
