Alternative aftermarket induction setup to k&n kit

Postby - Danny Boy - on Sat Feb 18, 2012 6:27 pm

Sup, I want pics/ideas for induction setups for use with the rs1800 inlet manifold and throttle body.

My K&N banana pipe is s**t and is sucking itself shut under load, so need an alternative which is nice and free flowing.

I'm potentially looking to fabricate something which is out of metal tubing as that's the best I've seen so far, but show me pics and throw ideas at me :)

That's what I would use buddy iv seen it done on a project thread on here somewhere but can't remember which one but I'd use silicone hose to attach a nice big bore of s/s tubing between your MAF and throttle body :Q

I am planning on going down that route :) The pipe may have to be made oval a little bit so the bonnet can shut properly without denting it as I have been informed by someone else who did the same thing and dented their bonnet. But having a slightly oval pipe isnt a problem :)

i did it on my 8v xr2i many years ago..matched it all to the throttle body size so nearly 3 inch ! had to cut the strengthening web from under the bonnet

I did that at one point but couldn't shut the bonnet due to the metal piping being too big. Gone back to standard zetec crossover pipe now :)

What about using a side-fed plenum / inlet. Hose runs will be shorter to the prescribed location then (can't remember what the effect of shortening the inlet tract is on nasp engines though, think it can result in lower torque) ?

Rover ones are ten a penny, just requires a spot of cut and shut.
Nothing to see here...
