Re: 2wd cosworth 4 pot calipers Fitting?
Calipers, carriers, pads, discs, some sort of spacer to fit between the hub and the carrier thats about 5mm thick I think it was, mine was a solid block of steel with the holes drilled. At least 15" wheels to clear the brakes. Mine also had spacers fitted with extended wheel studs, but i dont know if that was because of the brakes or the wheels I had fitted.

Here is a pic where you need to remove material. I don't know exact amount, but seems like 2-3mm.

Re: 2wd cosworth 4 pot calipers Fitting?
Hi there,
I've got a set of 4-pots on their way over.
Just to clarify a couple of points:
1) Did you use carrier or bolt the caliper straight onto the hub?
2) The 10mm spacer, that is for the wheel onto the disc, correct?
3) Did you have to machine anything off the caliper to make it sit over the disc?
4) What car did you get the discs from?
Hope you can answer these and save me the ball-ache of trial and error
Cheers
Paul

2) disc,spacer then wheel.
3) no machining needed

Hi,
Thanks for the info, thats excellent and just what I thought!!
What are they like? Do they stop you good and proper??
What are they like weight wise compared to standard calipers? OBviously lighter is better, but I fear these are going to be heavier...

Re: 2wd cosworth 4 pot calipers Fitting?
they are pretty heavy, much heavier than std calipers.
braking wise get some ds2500 pads and grooved discs and you will be fine.
forgot to say that to mount them you have to tap and drill the hubs to the larger cosworth bolt size.

Re: 2wd cosworth 4 pot calipers Fitting?
Cheers, thought they would be heavier, but dont suppose yod really notice it compared to the braking improvements!
DS2500 pads?!? Are you nuts, I just about choked when I saw how much they were
I'm sure some reasonably priced ones will be fine considering how small the Fiesta is
Yeah, will look at either drilling out as you say or getting a reducer pressed into the caliper so can go backwards if necessary... although knowing me, i'll just drill the feckers
Did you need the 10mm spacers to stop fouling on the wheel? I've got 5mm on at the moment, so will see if they are enough or will double up to see if 10 is needed

The ds2500s are worth the money mate.
The braking efficiency is 10x better with the 4 pots
Yeah needed the spacer to stop the alloy rubbing the caliper.

Re: 2wd cosworth 4 pot calipers Fitting?
Mmm... we'll see how she runs with the cheaper pads first I'm sure cossie 4 pots even with s**t pads will outbrake my current setup
One more question, did the Fiesta master cylinder cope with these no bother or did you upgrade to the Mondeo one?

Re: 2wd cosworth 4 pot calipers Fitting?
On my first Rs I upgraded to the escort mk6 servo and the cossie brakes felt alot better so I recommend to upgrade it.
The Rs I have now has the same cossie 4 pot brakes but have no room to upgrade the servo , so I have longer 'throw' on the pedal, that doesn't feel as good as before.
