Hello guys, i'm new here (I don't know exactly when I registered here but never made a post/topic).

I'm from Brazil and a Ford fan, when I was 12 yo my mom bought a 2002 Ford Fiesta Mk5 Street, 1.0 8v Zetec Rocam.
We still have this car in our garage and she LOVES the car, its tha basic version, doens't have power steering, power windows, and all the confort stuff...

In 2009 we bought our second Ford, it was a 2001 Fiesta MK5 GLX 1.6 zetec rocam. This was my first car and bring me a lot of happy moments. The handling was superb, even today two years after I sold it (I crashed it in a corner and decided to sell =( ) I think about my old car :bonkers:

In 2009, after I bought the GLX mk5, my dad bought a 2009 Mk6.5 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec Rocam flex fuel, this car still in our garage nowadays.

So, lets go to what really matters....

In 2009 (wtf? everything happens in this year :lol: :lol: ) I bought a brand new Duratec 2.0 engine and since that year I've been searching for the right car to fits it.

I started looking for a 2-door ford fiesta mk5, without succes I changed to a mk4 ford fiesta, then to a Mk3 or mk4 ford escort.
I've found a Ford Escort Mk4 hobby which doesnt fit all my requirements but was the best I could find. I sent the owner a text message to go ahead with the trade.
Two hours after that, a friend of mine told me that someone was selling a 1995 ford fiesta mk3 for R$4.000,00 (about £1220), but the car wasn't able to ride because the engine was a crap due a fire start.
But it still a cheap car because it will come with another duratec engine.

A duratec engine can be found today in brazil for R$2500,00 to R$3500,00 (£750 to £1050) which means the car costed to me something about £200.

Interesting read. Those old HCS/CFi engines will run forever on crap oil :D

I'm expecting to start the engine next weekend.

A friend of mine will go to my garage to make the necessary welds.

I just bought the pedal set from a Fiesta Mk5 with hidraulic clutch, and I just love the mk5 pedals positions, its perfect for heel and toe... :D

Next sunday I will bring some exciting news..

Nice work! It's coming on nicely but I have a few suggestions:

1 - The sheet you're using looks to be either galvanised or plated, which has probably led to contamination in the welds (white powder). It would pay to sand the edges of the plate you're using, prior to welding.
2 - The gearbox mounts don't look strong enough to me. I would use at least 3mm plate and add some gussets to it. The poly mount is also quite small and will place a lot of load on a small area of the cradle, so I'd recommend at least that you reinforce the cradle in the area of the mount. A small contact patch is good for NVH, but amplifies the forces at work.
3 - The engine mount is not level. You may find additional vibrations and experience premature failure of the part when not mounted level.

i agree the mount isnt level, and the gearbox mounts are very feeble looking

What do you mean about the "engine mount its not level", I don't get it! :-?

i thought the red one was wiper interval so i translated the writing on it and it is wiper interval :D

Top green line = Engine level
Bottom green line = The angle of your bracket
Bottom blue line = The correct angle of your bracket
Pink arrow = Points to a bulge in the mount that is caused by the incorrect mounting angle.

Summary: The top and bottom lines should be parallel.

I'll adjust the angles to fits the green lines you draw.

where are you guys from? I believe that most of you is from England, is that right?
I'm asking this because it's notable how different it is the way you do things.

I've posted this picture in four different foruns in Brazil and no one told me about the engine mount level.
