1.7 puma in my MK3 ????

Postby Jw-Photography on Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:00 pm

Hi all
Ive been offered a 1.7 puma engine and box with all the looms and ecus etc for 180 quid off a mate that put it all in a mk5 fiesta but now decided to brake the car.

Would a puma engine go in a mk3 1.1 quartz ? what would be needed ? anyone done this etc ?

All advice would be a great help as dont want to buy it all and find out it want work lol

it would fit yes, but really no point . your going to need custom mounts, if you cant keep your 1.1 box youl need mounts for that and change over to hydraulic clutch, custom shafts, plus pretty sure the wiring would be a nightmare unless your pretty handy with diagrams and making your own loom. plus many other parts I would expect would need changing over.. really for the hassle it will cause you to get 125 bhp if your lucky your much better of with a 1.8/2l zetec or a cvh engine. not to mention how expensive the puma/sigma engines are to get half decent power out of.

my 2p's worth would be to steer well clear unless you fancy a good challenge for something that imo is worse than a lot easier conversions
