Escort GTi (clean, 6moths tax, 12months mot) FOR SALE!!!

Postby icewater01 on Tue Feb 16, 2010 10:46 am

ok, im not in any rush to get rid of my escort it is my absolute pride and joy. I am looking to go back to a fiesta but cant afford one on the side so Im considering swapping my GTi. I am mainly interested in getting an RST but will consider an xr2i, or rs1800 depending on condition.

Escort information
I bought the escort less than 12,000 miles ago and travelled 100 miles myself to get it as it came completely standard, was in good condition for its age took me quite a while to hunt down. It had been looked very well after, never been thrashed, had the cambelt recently changed before i bought it and had done 98k. the car now has 109k on the clock which mainly consist of the non stressful motorway miles i did between sandwich and ashford whilst attending work there. It has no leaks within the engine and one of the cleanest engine bays i have seen which got alot of interest when i had it on show at santa pod. I have owned three escorts previously being a big escort and fiesta fan and unlike the others this one has by far been my favourite presenting me with no major problems.the engine runs incredibaly smooth, no jumpy revs, and the exhaust system purrs and sounds awesome whilst driving. The car has 6months tax and 12 months mot and is ready to go. It has air con, very clean half leather interior, abs, p/s, sunroof and electric seat.

since owning the car i have added the following:

17inch alloy wheels (slightly kirbed from previous owner)
80% tinted windows all round
black sunstrip - (now removed for MOT)
GTi racing white clock (blue led)
white heater dials (blue led)
blue led dash lights
sterling cat 1 alarm system with remote central locking and boot release with certificate
bonnet raisers
Chrome quickshift induction kit with blue hosing
blue engine hosing
chrome heat shield
chrome spark lead cover
stainless magnex exhaust cat back system (centre box was removed and professionally welded straight through - sounds wicked)
half tinted rear lights
custom leather gear gaitor
crystal side repeaters
de-badged (only at rear)
GTi mudflaps all round
two sets of other numberplates (one set as pictured, one standard set and one with a ford logo)

The only problems i have had with the car was a rear wheel bearing collapsed which unfortunately ruined the drum, i replaced it with a brand new drum and bearing.
there is no major rust problems as you can see however being honest there is a very small patch of bubbling underneath one of the rear arches No bigger than a 2p) Not visible from the exterior. There is also a small stone chip and small crack in the passenger side of the windscreen however these only presented advisories on the mot as they are small and not in the zone B of the windscreen. The car was sorn from the end of november until last week due to a holiday i went on over christmas which i spent all my money on. Since returning i bought 4 brand new tyres and had the tracking done.

The first MOT didnt go too well. Faliures are as follows:

1) offside head light angle aimed too low
2) Rear number plate bulb was not working
3) Rear indicator was affected by other lights (when it flashed the break lights also flashed)
4) Sunstrip entered swept area of windscreen offside
5) sunstrip entered swept area of windscreen nearside
6) Offside seatbelt prescribed area needed welding
7) Nearside seatbelt prescribed area needed welding
8 ) Exhaust emmisions
9) ABS light was on
10) Exhaust needed another bracket welded on
11) snapped front spring

Advisories - Windscreen chip and window tints being fairly dark.

All the above issues (other than advisories) were sorted and parts replaced with genuine ford parts. The garage commented on the welding work done when i returned for the re-test and said you would never have known the rust existed as the welding was done at such a good standard.
The only issue is the ABS light was reset but has turned on again however the abs appears to be working and when linked to the computer shows no faults.

This is the earliest picture i could find as close to the standard state i bought it as i lost the memory stick with the original pics on,

Sorry mate strictly a ford man, not looking for cash at the moment to be honest unless i line something up first because i cant be without a car due to the fact i either have a daily journey to work consisting of 20 mins down a duel carriage way in car or over an hour journey via train :) feel free to make an offer and ill keep it in mind for when i do come across something. thanks for the interest

Ok change of plan...i now have an rst so will be looking to sell this gti rather than swap, iv got a couple of people local interested willing to buy for 1000 but im open to offers from now whilst i advertise the car around a bit to see what i can get as i never really considered selling it for cash before, i will leave it for a week or 2 before i let it go if anyone is interested, just want to see if i can squeeze a bit more value out of it rather than selling at my first offered price :)
