What insurance group?

Postby Dazza on Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:12 am

Hello folks,

I re-call reading something along the lines of insurance groups now go up to 50 rather then the old 20.

Could someone tell me the insurance group of an Escort Van and/or Astra Van (say from 96 onwards) on the '20 group scale' ideally, just to give me an idea of what to expect, Im about to go out for a few hours and will have to ring my insurance company tonight/tomorrow - Just want a 'heads up' really.

not sure what effect it has on vans but with cars its basically double what it was. Ie 6 is 12
7 is now 13 10 is now 19.

It's not quite as simple as doubling it, for some that works, for other's it doesn't. Look it up on Parkers.

I must say that I was also wondering as to what the insurance for the Escort van or the Astra van could get to but anyway I am glad that just like you guys said, parkers solved out the insurance problem. Anyway, they said that that the effect that it has on vans can vary very much as when compared to that of the cars. Click Here I guess that is something that is yet to be sorted out pretty soon!

Don't rely on the insurance groups as I found out when looking for a first car few years ago. There doesnt seem to be a guild price on insurace groups eg: group 10 is £1000 or something like that. Will get loads of variety in prices even in the same insurance group. I'd ignore it to be honest.
