Finally decided that enough is enough and i it's something that i dont have enough of
I'm sure many of you will know the car as its had a fair bit of FT history as far as i know.
I've only really just fully decided that it's time i got rid of it so as yet there's no up to date pics but i'll try and sort that over the weekend.
Anyways, the story so far..
About a year and half (ish) ago bought the car off another FT member. No engine etc but an absolute stunner of a car.
Was originally a 1.4si but the previous owners plans were to put an RS1800 in it i believe.. Anyways, to cut the story short things didnt work out and he put it up for sale.. I then bought it and that's where the fun began!
First of all went with the idea of whackin an RS1800 in it myself, closest i could find and get my hands on was a 1.8zetec (Which is still sat unused in my shed - Offers welcome
Changed my mind and thought well why not just put it back to what Ford intended and get another 1.4si in there. Looked for months for another engine to no avail, then managed to get hold of an engine from a 1.4 Escort and was assured that that would be fine by my mum's at the time boyfriend - He's now an ex! Nuff said!
Anywho.. After a load of moping about because it had been over a year and nothing had happened with my car.. A guy from round the corner from me turns up knockin on my door asking if i needed any parts for mine before the scrap man came to collect it. Got chattin about what the plans were for mine etc and turns out he'd spent ages gettin his runnin sweet, all recon'd etc etc.. Went to get an mot and the floor pans and sills were completely rotten. So where I had the good shell but no engine, he had the good engine and rotten shell.... Problem solved.
Bought it off him, got a coupla lads round and got it in mine within a couple of weeks.
However when they fitted it the inlet from the XR2 wouldn't match for whatever reason, can't remember now.. But basically it needed an Si inlet instead. So they said get the inlet and a new exhaust manifold as the current one has a crack in it, then give them a call n they'll come back and finish it off.
Got the manifolds.. After countless calls being told "Cant do it this week maybe next week" i got fed up and went about doing them myself. Since then have tried to do the engine wiring myself as well but as i dont rele have a clue what im doing have ended up with loads of random wires that dont go anywhere, and for all i know might not even need to be there
But to cut the problems short.. The current state of affairs is this.
Originally a 1.4si.
Now a 1.6 XR2i on the original 1.4si loom.
Things that i know of that are yet to be done -
- Finish the engine wiring
- Fit exhaust (Got it, just needs doing. May even do this over weekend if i can as i have a new jack that i wanna play with
- Fit the screen wash bottle (Took it out to clean it)
- Put fog lights back in the front bumper and put that back on (Lights were taken out to have the surrounds resprayed, bumpers off as it made engine conversion easier)
As you can see there's really not much to do (That i know of) but for all i know there could be problems with what already has been done - ie the engine wiring, has been started but im unsure of what goes where so there could be a couple in the wrong plugs?
Stuff:
Imperial Blue mk3. 3 door. Lots of smoothing - Tailgate completely smooth, roof strips smooth no cracks, the lines along under the window also smooth, bonnet smooth, etc etc.
Atm its on steels but i have 2 sets of xr2i alloys, one newly recon'd that came with the donor car. Also have a set of 4 RS500 wheels and centre caps which i have at work and will be spraying Anthracite Grey. Can put any of these sets into the sale.
Also has an aerial fitted from a newer model fiesta, mk5 if i remember rightly dont dont quote me on that!
Got a nice spoiler that i was planning on spraying to put on there but havent got round to it yet, can also get a pic of that if wanted?
Has some good condition recaros front and back, little bit of tearing in the usual place in front.
All sorts of random little touches like theres a couple of extra gear knobs to choose use of and a spare set of doorpods were customised to house a set of 6x9s in em.
Havent rele thoughht much about the price as yet so would be open to any good offers. Ive put easily around 3 grand into this car, quite possibly more with the amount of extra engines etc.. Thats including the original buying price as well, but to be honest with you i just cant put any more into it now. Hopefully someone with better ford knowledge and more time available to put into it can do a good job of it
Anyone who wants to view can do so, most likely during the week any time after 4ish.

Thanks for reading i'll update with pics soon as i can
