H522 AGY - 13/02/10
Re: H522 AGY - Updated 04/01/09
Looks lovely Jamie
Really hope you get to the bottom of the radiator problem,
Could well be pressure build up due to lack of expansion space,
Not sure if its relivant but if you've got non standard hoses, they probably don't expand as much either, just a thought.
Lets hope its sorted soon anyway

Really like the front plate, caused any grief with the boys in blue yet?

jimmyesh - It does seem that a FRST spends more time off the road than on
Shaun - As soon as I've had a chat with James from JEK I will update the post and yea I have samco coolant hoses.
M1K3Y_B - No not had any trouble with the fuzz yet, but have a full size plate in the boot ready. It just looks too big and there isn't much left to fix it too

Shame to hear about the rad! I'm sure James @ JEK will be able to sort it out though. My JEK rad has been faultless! I'd go so far as to say that it over cools lol. I think your old FRST rad was the template for mine too
lol.

Just got off the phone to James, gonna drop the car off at the weekend. We think its the core gone again but don't know why. I don't know if its an issue with having samco's and a alloy header, or the fact its so big it doesn't move and flex with the engine.
Feersum_Enjin do you have the same size rad as me then? and do you have a alloy header etc? How long has your been fitted?

I'm not sure. When I got it done, my understanding was that James Forsyth had a standard FRST rad lying around and gave it to JEK James as a template. So dimension wise its a straight fit although i have a feeling the core may be slightly deeper. Running a standard plastic tank.

Yes, both very different rads.
Feersums rad is a copy of one I had hanging around,
Jamies was made way before and uses a larger core.
H522 AGY just wouldn't keep cool. Even with a standard sized aftermarket alloy rad on. The JEK rad was as big as could be fitted sensibly in the gap available. The rad keeps the car cool, even on the dyno.
I'm at a loss as to the problem though. The expansion tank and the hoses will make no difference though.
Hopefully James will come back with something usefull at the weekend.

Fiesta is now back on the road, hopefully the radiator will be fine this time. Have fitted a new filler cap to the expansion tank, to rule out presure release issues. After the radiator was done, Captain Tightpants picked up the car and done a few jobs for me, new brake servo, swap the interior from grey RS and service it. Was also hoping to fit an original air box but the one I bought turned out to be the top from and RS and bottom from an XR2i.
Steering wheel from the grey RS, also in better condition.

New servo and few silicon additions. As the airbox didnt fit, Steve fitted one of his one off custom Coke bottle catch tanks

When I got the car home I fitted a rear strut brace i'd had painted white.

New panel filter just need the airbox now, battery tray and dials.

Looking good there. Not to sure on the White dials though? Would new original ones be better?
Im planning on fitting the original airbox back on my FRST but i had no idea the xr2i ones were differnt
as i have a scrap 2i which still has the original airbox.
Gareth.

Was tempted to leave the dials standard, but the fact it doesn't match the gauges bugs me
Take a look at these, you can see the difference in airbox.

Re: H522 AGY - 18/04/09 Chatterless ;(
Fitted the original airbox this afternoon plus a few bits of silcone and a 3/4 reg plate. Wasn't sure if it would still make a noise or not so went ahead and fitted the airbox before butchering it, I now have my answer.....not a sound, no chatter what so ever! thought that it might make some sound looking at the size of the front port. So guess the drill will have to come out or I refit the bailey piston dv I have?

It has a port on the front of the box which goes right inside, think its about 2.5-3inches. Supprised it made that much difference really, think I might just make some holes in the bottom half nearest the wing.

Picked the car up last night from the body shop, battery tray has now been replaced and a small chip on the door touched in.
So today was spent getting it cleaned and polished ready for fitp, as i'm driving up tomorrow and staying over with a few others from the forum. Bet it pisses down with rain tomorrow and I have to clean it all over again
