Where to get insurance? Has the world gone mad?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi All,
I've been off for two years and, having taken a car 'sabbatical' on insurance, my previous (and long-term insurer) Greenlight quote went from £490 to £890 and, so far, (though I've only looked at Swinton Specialist) no-one else will even quote!!!
Is this some kind of credit crunch madness or have there been a massive crime-wave that normal people have missed?
I live in NG19 (or 17 if it gives a better quote lol!), am 31, 9 NCB, no claims ever, no points and have no idea what's going on! I only need a 1000 mile policy as car is lucky if it goes out more than once or twice a year. Car running 270 on road.
If you are an insurer, want EASY money, and dont want to take me from behind in the cash stakes please let me know!
Where does everyone else get there's these days? I'm not the most modded and I cannot believe people are paying what I've been quoted. At this rate I'll be buying a trailer and forgetting it.
Dave

Re: Where to get insurance? Has the world gone mad?
you lose your NCB after two years without insurance, so could be that?
try the company in the stickies at the top of this forum, or HIC maybe?
mine went down by £100 this year (insured the daily drive last month), so I don't think it's reflective of the market as a whole...

It's not two years up yet (and I was told up to two years before you lose it).
I've tried Swinton Specialist (wouldn't quote)
Chris Knott (wouldn't quote)
Greenlight (from £500 to £900) - no thanks
Considering it costs me about £300 every time I turn the key this is ridiculous.
Joke

Dave
HIC beat a plan by over 130 quid on my qoute mate, and i could add 1500 quids worth of mods an 10% extra power and it wouldnt affect my premium

Hi Mark
How are you, what are you driving now? Still got the M3?
I'm fine, two years off, so time to get it insured again before I lose my bonus! Have a 'larger' project on at the moment so wont get the car out this year but will definitely have it out next year for FiTP and then some track stuff at last!
Let us know what you are up to. What are Heeman etc up to these days?
