How accurate/comprehensive is this FAQ?

Not very at the moment. These are all from my personal experience or what I gathered from FiestaTurbo.com. Notice that I don't claim to be an expert, so if you see something you don't like or you want to add, let me know and I will change it or put it in, or a mod can change it. Let's make it a team effort

Here's what I'll do - I'll put a big shouty-style announcement at the top of the General 4um asking everyone to check the guide over if/when they have time and post up whether they spot any mistakes.

We'll give it a week or two, then I'll do my best to nit-pick the resulting guide. If between us we can't find any faults after all that, and you don't mind adding in information as/when people suggest it, or researching it, I will move it into the guides section and possibly look at turning it into a more organised page on my site to use as a starting point for Fezzie owners.

I'd help out with the buying and selling aspect but the problem is that, due to their popularity, Fiesta prices are dependant upon so many variables (e.g. model, year, history, colour, spec) - really it's best just to take each car as it comes!

However, if you like I'll have a go at concocting something if I can, as a rough guide.

isn't diamond white a metallic colour? panther black definitely is but I don't think it was around when Mk3's were new, ash black was the metallic black of the time iirc

most mk3 seem to leak water on the n/s windscreen for some reason.

also the rear panal can rust on the seams and also under the doors and boot seals.

the FRST has a few bits on it that are for the FRST only like the steering rack ( not avaliable from fords any more) and also the bottom ball joints, there 10mm set out and 10mm set back.
the shocks are also different to those of the xr2i and any other models and the ride hight is lower too. (standard)
for anyone intersted the pistons on the FRST are the same as on the ERST

also the breaer set up on the FRST is a little different to that of the 2i's etc

also, the export model FRST only had FIESTA TURBO stickers on the back unless the uk models that have FIESTA RS TURBO

Is the PATS on my car internal or external?

All Ford cars up to 96 have external PATS.

I think the diesels did not. I have no red chip in my key. I think I read somewhere it worked by stopping the ignition from working, so the engine would turn over but no spark hence wouldn't fire. Diesels not needing spark plugs this wouldn't work for them, and evidently they couldn't be arsed to think up anything different. Or, perhaps, they thought that once the engine did fire the thief would realise it was a diesel and leave it...

Not sure, tbh. Tested the PATS/immobilizer on the fiesta today and it doesn't even try and start, it's as though the battery is dead...

Oh well maybe I am wrong on that. But I am fairly sure I have read somewhere it's petrols only. I have a simpler key, not got a chip in it for the immobilizer.

I've just stickied this (belatedly), although I'm pretty sure some of the info contained therein isn't accurate. I've no doubt some of the colours are missing, for example. However, if people want to add their suggestions for changes that need to be made, I'll edit them into the original post when I next revisit this thread (as long as they're verified to be accurate changes).

Mk3.5 isn't a 'slightly' upgraded Mk3 - it's massively upgraded!

The Mk3.5 chassis isn't bad at all where the Mk3 is dangerously weak.

Mk3.5 has a high tensile safety cage inside the passenger compartment, together with many chassis improvements (inner wings, chassis legs etc etc)

although you missed out the colour mint green which mine is it only comes on the mk3.5 and only on the frasatti model which you also missed this is the highest spec model you get for optional extras etc.

just thought you should know that there was a period of "crossover" between EEC-IV and EEC-V where they modified the EEC-IV to use OBDII as well like JEST

They aren't obd2, but they have the same style plug with a different protocol used in a similar way.
