an any one give me any advice,

I am thinking about changing the engine in my fiesta, only want to change it to a 1.3/1.4 as the insurance is already sky high!

What is the best engine to drop into the fiesta, doesnt have to be origionally from a fiesta! - i have heard that the 1,3's from a KA are very good engines and are very tunable, is this correct?

However - what additional things would i need to do this conversion? - i know i would need the engine and also a new gearbox as mine is only a 4 speed. But apart from these what would i need?

Thanks

James.

Oh if/when i did swap the engine and it wasnt an origional fiesta engine would i inform dvla + insurance that it was from a different type of car or just the new engine cc?

You could just stick a 1400 cvh from a fiesta in it, the ka engine is a load of crap you`re better off with carbs. The 1300 ohv is only a few bhps short of the 1400 and is quite tuneable, have a look at the Burtons web page for ideas as they do a wide range of cams cheap. To change the box from 4 to 5 speed you need the gear linkage aswell. Or how obout the 1300 rotary engine from a Mazda mk7!!!

[Edited by snake (03-02-2001 at 07:24 PM).]

There's a (black) +12v to the coil, which then goes to the diz (and the electronic ignition module, if it's separate to the diz). There's also the green wire which goes to the rev counter, diz and ignition module from the coil. Finally, a brown should run from the diz to the ignition coil and thento earth. That's all there is to it - three or four bits of wire. How cool is that?!
